On Water

Sailboat

The houseboat was quieter than before.
There were fewer voices on the deck.

I found myself spending more time on the water again.

The sailboat had no engine.
Only wind and water.

At times the breeze carried me farther than expected.
At others it barely filled the sails.

The shoreline drifted by.
The afternoon drifted by.

I was no longer in a hurry to get anywhere.
