Houseboat
I no longer searched for distant shores.
Most trips had a destination.
I stayed near a quiet cove.
The view was the same every morning.
The houseboat rarely went far.
The same docks appeared again and again.
The same lights greeted me at dusk.
The cupboards filled.
The shelves filled.
The days filled, too.
The water was still there.
There was simply less time to wander.
