Paddleboat

Four pairs of feet began to move.

The paddleboat stayed close to shore.

One moment, the left side pushed harder.
The next, the right side did.

It drifted off course more than once.

No one seemed to mind.

The paddle wheel churned.
The paddleboat moved on.

The lake opened in front of me.
