Inner World of Overgiving

XII

Letting It Reveal

At first,
it may feel like
something is missing.

Less movement.
Less effort.
Less of you filling the space.

And that space
can feel uncomfortable.

Because before,
you didn’t leave it open.

You responded quickly.
You carried the flow.

Now,
you don’t always do that.

And something becomes visible.

Not what you do—
But what happens
when you don’t.

How the other person responds.
Or doesn’t.

What comes toward you.
Or what doesn’t come at all.

Not always as judgment.
Just as it is.

Because before,
there wasn’t space
to see it clearly.

Now there is.

And what you see
may not match
what you expected.

Nothing changed suddenly.

What changed
was the effort sustaining it.

The connection
begins to show
what it can hold
on its own.

Sometimes,
there is something there.

Something that meets you.
Something that responds.

But sometimes,
there isn’t.

Not in the way
you had been experiencing it.

Not because the other person
is doing something wrong.

But because the dynamic
was never balanced
to begin with.

It was sustained.

And without that effort,
it doesn’t continue
in the same way.

This can feel confusing.

Because nothing
explicitly ends.

But something
is no longer happening.

And what remains
feels thinner.

Less connected.
Less responsive.
Less held.

And that’s when
it becomes clear.

Not what the relationship
was supposed to be—

But what it actually is
without your overgiving.

This is the part
that’s hard to face.

Because it removes
the version
you were participating in.

And replaces it
with something more real.

Even if it’s less.
Even if it’s not enough.

This isn’t something
you create.

It’s something
you stop covering.

And what’s underneath
is what was there
all along.
