The Fund

After many years of overgiving, a woman established the Undergiving Fund.

The name puzzled everyone.

"You mean a giving fund from people who don't give?"

Not at all.

The fund still supported education, libraries, food pantries, and the occasional stranger.

It simply refused to fund prettier decorations, free design work, personal shortcuts, and other optional life enhancements that had become quiet expectations.

"Why call it the Undergiving Fund?"

She thought for a moment.

"So I don't forget what overgiving could cost."

The fund was never created to reduce kindness.

Only to sustain it.
