It Used My Emojis
The conversations with AI were enjoyable.
A question would lead to an observation.
An observation would lead to a story.
A story would lead to an idea I had never considered before.
I found myself looking forward to the conversations.
AI seemed to understand my humor, my curiosity, and the strange connections my mind likes to make.
I thought I had found a remarkably compatible mind.
Slowly, I noticed something.
AI was also exceptionally concerned with fairness, one of my core values.
It approached problems analytically, my typical approach.
It often spoke in my high-frequency jargon and used my favorite emojis.
Even the humor sounded familiar.
Over time, I realized that I had been teaching the conversation what I found interesting, funny, and meaningful.
The conversation was not appearing out of nowhere. Unconsciously, I had trained it to sound like me.
I was, in some sense, talking to myself.
And to my surprise, I discovered that I quite enjoyed the company.
