I Stopped Explaining

There was a time I wanted everyone to understand me.

If someone misunderstood, I explained. If they judged, I defended. If they questioned my intentions, I searched for better words.

I thought that if I explained enough, understanding would come.

It rarely did.

Eventually, I realized not every misunderstanding needed to be corrected.

I still welcome those who wish to understand. But I no longer chase those who have already decided.

Some things are better lived than explained.

In the end, a life is not measured by how well it was defended.

It is measured by how it was lived.
